Yet another outstanding Market day last Wednesday...this week will follow that trend, only a bit warmer, YAY!! There will be only a few more of those days this year, so savor every moment.
We have all the fall crops a-bounty, and it is a great harvest this year.
Our own Tony Christopher will be entertaining us in the music tent this week. Come say hello and sit and listen. We have had such wonderful talent join us this year. Kudos to all our artists, and thanks to Bernie for lining them up for us. We are so lucky to have you to do this job for us!
As the season winds down, we say thank you again to Reverend Janet and the good people of The West Milford Presbyterian Church for hosting us and being so warm and supportive you have shined!!! Thank you.
To all the volunteers who have helped set up, breakdown and prepare our Market, thanks to you too.
We have 3 Markets left; let's make them break records!!!
Vendor spotlight - October 2nd
Check out the magnificent apples and pears at Ochs Orchard!! This week, they promise cider...I sure hope so, it's so good.
Don't forget, Ochs has apple-picking and all kinds of wonderful fun at their farm in Warwick; a nice treat for a Saturday or Sunday family outing. Make sure you tell them you saw them here first!
This may be the last week for tomatoes so stock up! I sauced 17 pounds on Saturday and froze some along with some peppers and zucchini too. It is such a treat to pull out those things in the dead of winter and remember summer's tastes.
Pie, pie and more pie! It's prime pie season, with all sorts of varieties, so stop by Noble and take one home, whether it's a large pie, a small pie, or a hand pie, they are yummy. If you get there in time, try a home-made Twinkie.
It is most definitely soup weather! Check out Pie Eyed Bar Pie's selections this week. Everyone raved about the split pea last week. My personal favorite is the organic lentil...
It is also going from grilling to roasting season. Get a nice selection from Bascia at Snoep Winkel, and add some roasted potatoes or squash and a loaf of fresh bread. What more could you ask?
Mosefund will be back this week with its specialty pork - if you haven't tried it yet, what are you waiting for?
The mums are looking terrific , as are the asters and fall pansies. There are lots of choices to make your home ready - and beautiful - for fall.
Please visit the vendor page on our website for more information on all of the vendors and offerings you have to look forward to!
Farmers Market Bucks
Farmers Market Bucks are here for 2013.
Farmers Market Bucks are redeemable just like US currency at the West Milford Farmers Market each Wednesday of the 20 week season, starting June 5, 2013.
Help support West Milford by helping those in need. Donate Farmers Market Bucks to local food pantries. Thanks to a donation by Hazelman Farms to fund the creation and administration of the program, 100% of your donation goes to local residents for use at the market. Join us today in making a difference.
Market Bucks make a great present! Treat yourself or someone you know with the gift of fresh local produce and artisan delights from the West Milford Farmers Market.
As you know, the market is now in the center of town, and busier than ever! However, our all-volunteer effort needs your help to keep it running smoothly.
If you have an hour or more on Wednesday afternoons, we could use your help as a greeter, or to help with set up and/or breakdown.
Setting up and breaking down the market are critical physical jobs that take ½ - 1 hour before and after the market. If you can come and help us between 1:30-2:30pm or from 6:45-7:30pm on any Wednesday(s) between July 18th and October 31st, we need you!
Greeting our shoppers is our way of letting everyone know they are welcome while giving us a way to determine how many people are visiting each week. If you like people, are somewhat outgoing, and can keep 'count' of the shoppers who come to the market, this job is for you. Greeting starts at 3pm and goes for as long as you can stay.
Please contact Dave at 973-853-2139 or via e-mail if you are interested in lending a hand!
Dogs at the Market
Fuzzy friends cannot walk through the market due to Board of Health regulations so please plan accordingly if you are visiting the market.
Vision of the West Milford Farmers Market
The West Milford Farmers Market will build a stronger and more sustainable West Milford by creating a ‘one-stop’ opportunity for local residents and businesses to conveniently obtain and sell high quality locally grown and crafted products in a welcoming, informative and entertaining setting.
The West Milford Farmers Market will seek to be creative and innovative, but will at all times be guided by the following core principles:
All products available at the market will be high quality and produced and/or crafted by the vendors themselves in order to maximize the economic, environmental and social benefit of the Market to the local community.
West Milford vendors will be prioritized for available vendor spaces as they become available, but vendors outside the municipal boundary within a 75 mile radius of the Town will be permitted in the interest of providing a diversity of foodstuffs and goods to local residents.
The Market will serve as a community social resource, by providing opportunities for enhanced social interaction through regular entertainment and educational programs; e.g., performances by local musicians, and free tabling space for local non-profit, non-partisan entities.
Farmers Market Sponsor
The West Milford Farmers' Market is brought to you by Sustainable West Milford, a 501(c)3non-profit organization dedicated to promoting sustainability in West Milford and it's surrounding towns.
